If you had a 5spd, I'd say weber, but with the a/t, I'd stay with the mikuni for the a/t thottle pressure valve cable. I'd bet the carb kit could be had for under $150, and I bet you need a bowl vent valve, too (not in the kit).

A download of the factory shop manual volume 1 will give you all the steps to set the carb up right. If you put it back together the same way it came apart, you probably can skip a bunch of the tricky stuff, but make sure you set the float level right and blow out all the passages and jets real good.

The suggestion of a starion/conquest intake side only is a pretty good one, too, but somewhat complex for a rookie, and the unused turbo will start singing a Siren song...
