Need a Spot

Hey folks, just a quick question. I recently found a '88 Raider (been wanting a SWB for a long time) and have noticed the gear shift lever gets pretty darn warm when I'm driving. It's not too hot to touch or anything, but a lot warmer than any other stick I've driven. Am I burning something up, or is that pretty normal for these rigs? My '91 LWB was an auto, so I don't really have a good comparison. Thanks!
