GOOD NEWS!!!! V43W Montero windshields are THE SAME as V44W JDM pajero windshields. JDM CAPS listed only 2 different windshield Part numbers while NORTH-AMERICAN Caps listed 11 different part numbers...while the only differences are tint colors, the 2 numbers I pulled from N/A CAPS were MB677397, and MB677398...they both match JDM caps for the same windshield. The Japanese model must have had a few more tint options.

so I am going to order up a 1992 Montero windshield and there should be no reason it shouldn't fit now.

I can't remember who had trouble fitting a windshield last year...I think it was "bullet-proof" on this site??? the only conclusion I can come up with to why his windshield didn't fit was he must have ordered a 1991 Montero windshield which is still the old style.

I think it was determined the same way last thread about the windshield matching the JDM # but it still didn't work out for some reason. This isn't first hand experience just what I recall from this forum. Let us know how your experience goes.

I am trying to find a shop that won't ding me if the windshiled doesn't fit. I am hoping one of them will be nice to me when I explain my story, and tell me if it is the wrong one I don't have to pay for it.

Now my cracks are spread all the way across the windshield....how do you get all the chunks of glass out from the defrost vent??? when I turn my defrost on, all I hear is the rattling of glass.

Oh man that sucks, with the glass and all. How much of a gamble is it with the glass? ($$$$) Maybe all us pajero guys should chip in 20.00 a piece if it doesn't fit? Worth a few bucks to me to find out.... There has to be at least 20 of us in western Canada that want to know... After all we are all just one rock away from being in the same boat!!!!!

that would be awesome...I will keep trying glass shops in surrounding town/citys and see what I come up with. if I have no luck I will get a price on the glass and see if anybody wants to chip in for me being the test subject.

I just don't see why a Montero windshield wouldn't fit. part numbers for the window, gasket, and moulding are all the same as the Pajero.

I don't mind chipping in 20 bucks if it "fails" to fit. I think that would be fair..... Anyone else willing to put up some insurance money for torquemonster?

okay so I found a shop that will not charge me if the glass is wrong (glassmasters auto glass). and they said a windshield for a 1992 Montero is $289 installed...still a little steep but what other options do I have haha. It was one of the goons that told me I didn't have to pay for it if it was the wrong one, I want to ask the manager another day to confirm.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
There is a JDM dealer in Vancouver who is importing Pajero windshields from Japan and selling them for 500. When I asked about them before he got them in he had quoted me 350 but I haven't followed up with it. Maybe his importing cost was higher than expected? I have been waiting to see what everybody finds out on here. It would be much more convenient with insurance and all to have it replaced by a Montero version.

What I was told by the mitsu dealer - the montero windshields are made for a different gasket in the NA models whereas a gasket is used on the Japanese models that allows the glass to "pop out" when force is applied. They looked up the parts for me and it would add up to 180.00 to do a conversion to the NA gasket. Didn't get the part #s.

Mark me down for $20 if you're willing to be the test subject Torque Monster. The cracks are spreading quickly!
