It's not like I made this statement haphazardly. This has been well documented by technicians in my trade.

Well, let me put it to you this way. In the 30+ years that I've lived here, you're the first person to suggest that Oregon gas is better than anyone else. Conventional wisdom is that it sucks and none of my cars over the years has ever dramatically exceeded EPA ratings and most don't even approach it.

If you look at it from the point of view that Oregon gas is just adequate and California gas totally sucks because of the CARB formula then that's a possibility I could go along with.

Until recently, ethanol was only used in Oregon gas during the winter months and since most Californias commute up here during the summer, it's not hard to imagine that in the past, Oregon gas provided better mileage, assuming California gas had ethanol year round. But Oregon gas is now 10% ethanol year round, because our state has the failed wisdom of trying to follow suit with California vehicle emissions.

Unfortunately, their cancerous political ideology is creeping across our border along with all their residents. Probably won't be long before an OARB is established and most of my gun rights are taken away and my taxes really start to go up.

Just don't ask me where I was born.

One thing to keep in mind, I'm an Oregon native. Born in Garbage Grove and grew up in Harrisburg. I lived in Springfield and Eugene from age 19 till about 30. Then I moved to Hell, California.

I'm not saying Oregon has the best gas, I'm saying that Oregon nets higher fuel economy over California blends. This is not to say that Oregon fuel pollutes less, although the point is arguable if the net fuel efficiency is as I believe. You don't have to increase efficiency a whole lot to offset certain pollution levels.

I am a little surprised that California hasn't required Oregon to use California gas along the freeway in Ashland and Klamath Falls. Probably just a matter of time.

Hiker,

If you mean between different gas stations in your town, I know when my buddy asked a gas truck driver filling up the tanks at Costco what the difference was between Costco gas and Chevron gas, he told me he just came from filling up a chevron station with the same tank load!
