it wont be with a turbo. you want the biggest exhaust possible with forced induction. all the air goin in has to be able to get out.

if i can get my insurance to cover me with a turbo swap, i will be running a 3" exhaust. like said, you want it as free flow as possible. it will let the turbo spool up much faster.
there is no need to worry about any back pressure issues with a turbo as all of your back pressure is created at the turbine.

Yes I am. I know it will be to big for power gains at first but I hope to have the turbo started before the end of summer. I have a stock Probe turbo and I am going to keep the boost around 8psi so the 2 1/2" should work good. My biggest problem right now is finding a place for the intercooler. I might mount it to my skid plate, move the licence plate, and drill some round holes in it so it can get plenty of air. ![[Linked Image]](http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii29/upyourkia/IMGP0222.jpg) Dennis

I also love turbo conversions and have thought about where an intercooler could go on a sportage.
Im wandering how one would go above the engine with a custom scoop setup in the bonnet? with a body lift you might have the room?

I've allways been curious. I have found cheep turbos on ebay that look complete, but do you have to remap the ecm to run the extra boost? I am kinda ignorant in this erea.

you would definitely want to have some tuning work done to the ecm if you are running boost!
i think if i end up doing it, i will probably run a stand alone unit in place of the stock ecm, or in my case the powerchips ecm.
that way you can dial in exactly what you need to be abl to run the boost you want safely.

I have been told since we have a MAF instead of an air meter the stock ECM should be ok, If not my boy is good with stand alones and we will have to build one. I will let everyone know when it happends.
