Just curious if this is documented anywhere...my cable snapped up in the fender well somewhere.

I did a search and didn't seen anything. Of course, if anyone has a spare antenna to ship, I'd be grateful.

IIRC you just remove the fender/tire well and you can access it, but I'll let someone w/ access to a manual or who's done it before elaborate on if I'm right or wrong.

It's easiest if you pull the fender. Unless you have very skinny arms, you'll have difficulty with the wire routing and getting the Phillips screw out of the body that hold the antenna in.

Yeah, just checked the FSM. After you unbolt the housing you'll need to remove the fender not the wheel well. Sorry for any confusion.

I jacked it up, pulled the tire and fender liner to do mine. Thought it was going to be more difficult. Fishing the wire, now that's another story...

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

I never removed the fender to change mine. Just remove the plastic fender liner and it's there to work on. The screw was no problem. The last time I did it, I left the console in place. You can engage the cable with a little patience, well maybe a lot of patience.

leave the old wire in place, then tape the two together. Plan on using a lot of tape, far up both wires. Then you can use the onld wire to pull/guide the new one through the firewall.

Montero's aren't bad. Try a Silverado. Might as well be a silverback until you know the trick.
