my old dodge colt had this problem....except it wasn't the spline for the arm. something screwed up in the track system and they both moved on there own...they weren't in unison with eachother and they always got tangled up with each other. it was a real pain in the ass when driving in a hard rain and my wipers start having fights with eachother.
