'94 hilux, shortbox.

on the wheel hub, is there any (easy) way to replace the mounting studs (at least the broken ones) for the 4wd hub???

it all started with a broken wheel stud. and i figured since i had to take everything apart that i would repack the wheel bearings. things always take a little longer than i expect, it got late, i got lazy and was using the impact wrench to spin the 4wd hub nuts back on. spun one off with the impact. i thought i would just let it ride for now and repair it later. then i spun another one off by hand.

guess its time for a tork wrench.

any help would be great.
thanks!

rolled it on a snowbank. now i'm not afraid to scratch it. liberation.

2 ways to do it. If you have any threads left, clean them up, and grind the head of the stud flat so that you can get a nut back on. Then double nut the stud by threading one nut on, followed by another nut, tighten the top nut against the bottom nut. Now get a wrench and loosen the 2 nuts together, and the whole stud should come out.

If you dont have threads or that doesnt work, grab a good set of vice grips and twist the thing out of there. That is, unless you broke it off completely flush. Then you'll need to buy a set of bolt extractors.

no threads left, tried the vice grips with no success. its difficult to do this work in a sandy driveway...
local machine shop was able to extract my broken studs for a few measley dollars.

thanks for the comment.
