I have a 01 Montero Diesel In Dominican Republic, What Is the proper way to start the engine if there is one? The truck Doesn't want to start In The Morning It's hard to start, when It gets going I have to wait about five minutes before moving It or If I try it sputters then shuts off and doesn't want to start back up.It runs normal all day long with no problems only in the morning the weather never goes below 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Is this just Normal with Diesel's? I just changed the filter also. This Is my First diesel.

I would guess that you have a problem with your glow plug system. The newest Diesel Pajero we have in Canada is a 1993 so I cannot help you to much other than to check your glow plugs for 12 volts when you turn on the key. You can also check the busbar that connects the plugs together for corrosion. The last thing to do would be to remove all your glow plugs, inspect them and measure the resistance from the center connector to the case. there should be very little resistance. Can't remember off hand what the resistance should be but it should be less than one ohm.

I was reading on Pocuk.com that the symptoms you describe signal problems with the injection pump seals on the 2.8L. take a look on the Pocuk website and search "fuel pump". It will have lots of info there.

I second the "check Pocuck". There's lots of info there.
To me it sounds like glow plugs inop: - either bad glow plugs or no power to them.
