What a day!

Got to meet PVDUB (who brought me some blinker lenses!

Got to meet Chad, who provided magnificent morale support, although I wish his damn spring compressor would have cooperated!

Joe was a Godsend. I am anxiously awaiting firing it up tomorrow to give it the leak checkeroo. I doused it in degreaser since it was completely covered from head to skid plate in sludge. Say, does anyone know if it's safe for me to leave degreaser on the engine overnight? Or should I spray it off tonight?

I can't wait to see you guys again! Need to hit the Slaughterhouse when I can afford some tires and shocks.

Hopefully this thing is in daily driver status in a day or so. My Ranger is on eBay.

Plans for the Raider include:

KYB's
Trim bumpstops/adjust the t-bars to level off the front end.
Possibly an additional rear leaf
All-Terrain T/A's in 31x10.50
Discount Tire black steelies like PVDUBs in 15x8
Nice top end Maaco paint job in BRIGHT TSi RED
New (or straight) fenders, hood and front trim
ARB Bullbar with Winch
New stock rear bumper with hutch or a fabbed CJ Warn or ARB rear bumper
Tint
Stereo upgrade
Bouncy seats x2
Steam clean carpets
Possibly replacement front seats or reupholster

Then, time for a motor.

I was gonna do a full MPI intercooled, built 2.6 with a T3/T4 but I may settle for a Top End Performance Weber Carb'd turbo motor like so...

Whatever happens, the WIRE is awesome!

Good group of folks here.

So after seeing Capn's lift I went home and tightened my torsion bars down. It looks much better now. Albeit it's still stock.

Roll Me Over
Cool to hear all the CO activity.

Joe's set-up should be an inspiration to all the naturally aspirated 2.6's

(you do know that adjusting t-bar base settings will require a front-wheel re-allignment...)

I personally would not deal with TEP. Too many sad tales. And they are the pits to try to talk to.

I think you will find that a stock Starion motor is plenty bodacious, and will respond nicely to an upgrade to the factory "sport" turbo (mitsu -14 series - 450+cfm @ 15psi - enoght for 300+hp) or a 16 variant if you want to run with the Ferraris.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well yesterday was a mixed bag. It was great to meet and work with Joe and Jason, and to meet PVDUB. Joe's truck is truly inspiring for what I want to have. It has to be a beast offroad!

My efforts at swapping my suspension were totally unfruitful, I accomplished nothing of what I wanted, and in fact, now have more work to do to tap out the two sheared bolt holding the rear upper bump stop. But, I learned a lot about my truck, as well as the Raider/Monty 4 banger. I am going to make another attempt at the suspension this Saturday with a friend of mine who is a mechanic at the Beemer dealership in Boulder. He is confident.....meanwhile I think I will spray on some more PB Blaster!

We need to setup a trail ride for early August. Hopefully I will make it back unscathed from my trip to Crested Butte next week and have some reviews on the new suspension/tire setup.

Your making me feel better. But what about fuel delivery??

Okay guys, I fired it up and it started right away. I'll check for leaks in about an hour after we go get dinner. Here is the first issue...

My tach doesn't work anymore. I noticed as I was rolling up to the car wash, so it was after we tinkered, and after I let it soak in degreaser all night. Anyone know where the connection from the engine is to the tach?

The tach sender should be at the coil. If you've burned your tach somehow, I have another.

Other parts went out today, sorry for the delay.

The money for the TEP "swap" is insane. I got a thrashed donor Quest and when I sold what I didn't need, I covered the cost if the whole car. So, $fre.99 plus some work for things like gaskets and o-rings, a turbo rebuild, etc. But still a far cry from theat TEP insanity.

Hell, I haven't much more the $5k in my whole truck, and that is the ride, the motor rebuild, the 2.85s, all rebuilds on the truck (bushings, brakes/upgrade, shocks, etc., etc.)

With a good fuel pump you should have no fuel delivery problems up to about 12psi of boost, which is probably a good safe limit on pump premium. She will run with v8 mustangs and the like at that level. Ricers, beware...
