I live in an area where most of the trails have deep water on them. I've had to replace my alternator a few times, seems once it goes underwater it quits working . Is there any way to prevent this, or is it just one of those things?

Just one of those things. Unfortunately, Toyota mounts the alternater low, so its vulnerable to getting wet. Muddy water is a killer. Try to avoid it.

Stick to clear mountain streams, like Fordyce creek.

Nope, I've not seen a mountian around here recently We have the elevation changes of a bowling alley.

We used to have a mountian on the state flag, but it's also been removed.

Nonsense. I've seen ant mounds in Florida that rival the mountains we have here in North Central Texas. Oh wait, we don't have any mountains either. Never mind...

My comment was intended as a joke. I just left out the smiley.
Move to California. We have everything from rocks to desert, to mountains, to snow, to mud, to earthquakes, to fires, to celebrity governors, to high taxes, etc, etc.

And the atractive part of all that is.... the celebrity governor?
We have the same things in NC.
Well, minus the celebrity Gov. Oh and no earthquakes. Or desert. Or big rocks. And lower taxes.
We do have fires, though! And snow at least 2 days a year!

I've looked at my 87 on moving the thing. I have a body lift and you can reach through the frame to it. very exsposed to the elements. you could fab a bracket and move it up.
