Need a Spot
Many of us have spare igniters, purchased when we thought it was bad. (Ouch!)

Good luck!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hmmm...I'll bite, what is a "AFM/MAS (or TPS, for that matter)"?

Body Damage is Cool
AFM -Air Flow Meter
MAS - Mass Airflow Sensor
TPS - Throttle Position Sensor

Used on Fuel Injected engines (22RE)
Not found on carbed motors.

Your problem does sound electrical.
I would remove the relay/fuse link box from the fenderwell and double check all wire ends and connections under there, (Dont forget to disconnect the battery first!) one gave me fits on my old 85 22R. Also double check all grounds in the engine compartment.

There were 2 100+ degree days when this happened. Also, it has been running rich, which in this case would indicate not a complete burn due to poor spark. When its cool out, it runs a little better, as far as not quitting on him and having no spark.

I've had to replace this before, with a used part. I'm done paying such a high price for parts. This is why I am going to go the GM HEI route.

The number one issue on the carbs is a AAP (Auxillary Air Pump). This is designed to add extra gas to the engine when cold, to help smooth out the idle. Is the #1 spark plug black, covered in soot? If the AAP goes bad, extra fuel will ALWAYS pour into the engine, causing it to run rich. Here is a quick easy test pic below:

Tailpipe is black, not sure on plugs but at this point they are probably all black. He is 120 miles from me, but I believe that hose is removed and plugged.

While talking on it, I would love to find a generic replacement carb. Wish there was something simple that would bolt up, aside from a Weber. Different topic, different time.

The mag pick up in the distributor can cause a no-spark condition also.

X2. I've never had a Yota pick up go bad but have seen em go haywire on Heeps and Fords.
It runs rich some times, not at all, or runs fine till it's up to temperature. Just a few that come to mind.

Good luck.
