Ok...now can you help me locate the position of the starter relay? So far,it's not where the book, manuals and dealership say it's supposed to be. They claim, under the hood driver side,or junction at driver kick panel. Neither have a starter relay. Period.
I was also told by 2 others, that automatics have NO starter relay. Could this be why I can't find one?
Any help clarifying this would be greatly appreciated.
When I talked to the dude at the local Yota dealership parts dept. He gave me the number of #28300-16010,and told me where it should be(underhood/driver side),but the question of automatic/manual never came up. Could it be that their is none for the automatics and he assumed that I was working on a manual? As they're more popular as far as being manufactured.
Do I need to call him back and specify that I have an automatic, then see what he says?
Help? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Here is a quick voltage test you can do to isolate the cause of the problem:

And a fix you might try in lieu of replacing the relay:

On some trucks, the starter relay (if present) is on the passenger side fender or firewall. The Factory Service Manual will typically show component locations. Not real familiar with the A/T equipped vehicles, but according to the above page, the neutral start switch serves as the "starter relay":

I've just got some information that the automatics do not have a starter relay. Only the manuals. So,Monday morning I am calling the dealership and informing him that I have an automatic and see what he has to say then. I'll report my findings then.
Thank you all.

In my 88 Truck FSM, every time the word Starter Relay is shown, it is followed by "(M/T)". I would consider that a strong hint that it only applies to vehicles with manual transmissions. Even in the wiring diagram it is shown with M/T after it.

Im gonna look for that "M/T" in my manuals and see if that stands true for my rig. Thanx for the tip! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />
