Updating old thread instead of starting new.

To bring people up to speed with my problems. Around January my Montero was giving me some very odd temp readings. I would also hear alot of air bubbles running through the heater core. I found my cooling system all but empty, topped it up and nursed it home 130 miles from work. I then purchased my Subaru and put the Montero on the back burner. Come a month or so ago I decided to pop the rad cap and it sounded like a coke bottle opening. I topped it up again and ran it for five minutes. I noticed a bad engine knock and when I popped the radiator cap again it gave that coke bottle sound, so I figure its the head gasket. Finally pulled the heads after letting the engine sit on the stand, yep gasket breached (also worth noting the drivers side head had 2 fairly loose head bolts).

Not only did RedHead Rebuilders screw up the bottom end, but they also probably reused the old stretch bolts. I wish I could meet the asshat who rebuilt this engine so I could beat him to death with the old crank. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

Notice carbon buildup where arrows are pointing.
