I went and played up on Argentine Pass with my girlfriend Saturday, and we really had a great time. I had to drive down I-70 and that went with no apparent issues. I just don't know what kind of trouble this will be to fix? My manual indicates I can just take the bar out without much trouble, is that true? Do I need to have it jacked up or can I just work on it with all four wheels on the ground?

Many guys here have removed that sway bar. You just have to slow down around corners as the body roll is increased. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> The only safety issue i see is if it broke while in a high speed turn. Then the body would roll abruptly too much and over you'd go. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />

I doubt it would snap. It's more likely to interfere with the lower control arm from what I can see in those pics. Are you sure it's not just the bracket that's bent? It would take a heck of a whack to bend the actual bar. Junk yard parts will set you straight <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

I don't think you need to jack it up to replace it, but if you do, and don't have jacks or stands or a place to work, you can come over to my house. I have a two car garage, heavy duty jackstands and a huge 4 ton jack if need be, and I'm in Westminster. I've had a ton of help from Joe and Chad here in Colorado and would be happy to help, at least with a workspace if need be. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

Good to know I could actually just remove it, I thought that was the case. If I end up doing that would it be an issue to leave the rear one on? I am pretty sure the bar is what was bent, is was quite a thump in the cab. Junk yard is probably what I'll do as I find time this summer...school and work keeps me pretty busy lol! Thanks Cochese! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> I may have to take you up on that offer, being that I am pretty inexperianced with wrenching it would be nice to have a more experianced set of hands!

Based on my experience over this past weekend, the sway bar should be fairly easy to completely remove/replace, assuming your rusty bolts cooperate. I am guessing that is not a Colorado truck based on your pictures.....looks more like my Chicago truck under there!

Have you checked if the bar has slid off center? Hard to believe the bar would bend with no other damage.

No, it's a CA emissions car and was registered in CO a couple of years after it was purchased by the same person (Carfax)...I am the second owner so not sure about the rust. Well now that you say that OldColt, it does seem to have slipped <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />. Cause the passenger side has about 2-3 inches of the bar sticking out of the end bracket and the driver side is flush? I think I will try that first lol! THANKS! I just had my upper control arms, pitman arm, and idler arm replaced under warranty so I am hoping nothing else is damaged!

Good outcome, the bar was knocked off center. Just got done moving it back into place...whew, much easier than I imagined! Thanks for the comments and help guys! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
