Wow, what a trip! Crested Butte has to be one of the prettiest places on earth. Huge granite mountains, green flower-filled valleys, and waterfalls everywhere you turn. The first disappointment was that the record snowfall in that area this year still has many of the 4x4 trail passes closed. The Devil's Punchbowl over Schofield pass between Crested Butte and Marble is closed just below Emerald Lake, there is a snow field between 15 and 20 feet deep still there. Pearl Pass between Crested Butte and Aspen is snowy and incredibly treacherous. Search and Rescue was called up there last week for a truck that slid off the trail.

The most difficult trail I was able to conquer was a rocky trail running up next to the O' Be Joyful waterfall above the Slate River. Unfortunately, the truck completely overheated at the top. All of my coolant boiled off. I was very fortunate to not have done serious damage to the motor (so far). After letting it cool down, I was able to nurse it down on several bottles of Spring water. I refilled the radiator with coolant and water and didn't have any more troubles...although I took it easy and didn't use 4Lo the rest of the trip. What do you think is the best option for my radiator? There appears to be sludge in there....and I have flushed it twice already. Should I pull it and get it acid washed?

I did my first wheel stand...freaked out my wife! I used every bit of my additional 4.5" of clearance crawling over some ledges. I managed to scare myself on a sloped shelf road hanging over the edge of a river...I think I need an inclinometer. Has anyone put one in their GenII? Where did you mount it? The narrow wheel base is great for tight spots, but it feels more tippy...

Overall I am very pleased with the new suspension. Handled very well on the Highway curves and on the offroad bumps. I came away with a dented rear bumper from backing into a tree, 2 dents in my passenger front door from rocks, and lots of scratches. I didn't get many pics, especially with the overheating problem I had the first day. I did get a couple crossing the Slate River. I will post them up after I download them off of the camera.
