The truck is now SOLD. Please see a few posts down for available parts.
This may be the wrong forum but I know not all the Isuzu guys interested in rigs cruise the general FS forum...
FS: my beloved 1991 Trooper LWB (4D) 2.6L 5spd
Truck is located in Mansfield, Texas, south/central to the Dallas/Fort Worth metro area.
Originally an S model that I painstakingly converted (swapping body harnesses) to some LS options with PW, PL, and a few misc trim pieces. Retains the original gray tweed & vinyl interior.
The interior is good for the age but the vinyl needs to be redone. Dash has a small but poorly repaired crack. Carpet is getting rough (steam cleaning may revive the front two sections). Interior door panels and headliner are in great shape.
Body color is dark blue, paint is great, and the body is straight (with appropriate-for-age door dings) BUT the paint is fading on the hood and roof badly. No frame rot (TX/OK vehicle all it's life).
Runs great. 278k miles on chassis and original motor (has had 2 valve jobs in it's lifetime). Due for a new timing belt soon, I do have all the new OE parts for the job. Motor blows great compression numbers and burns NO oil. Does have a minor leak at the front main and from what looks like the oil filter mount. Nothing more than a few drops a day, though. Rear main changed at the last clutch job at 200k.
The 5-spd died soon after I bought the truck. The current unit came from Randy from the board, off his 1990 (I think) Amigo which had ~100k miles on it when it came out. It went into my truck at 200k. Has been great ever since. Shifts fine. Has an OE clutch on the truck that went in new then, with all the higway miles the clutch should be fine for a while. Master and slave cylinders were replaced a couple of years ago as well.
Some of the add-ons:
PW/PL (all working) & factory wiring transferred from 1990 LS model
15x7 American Eagle wheels (similar in look to the Amigo ones)
Kumho MT tires (two new, 3 near end of life)
Garvin Wilderness Rack (nice)
Sony CD & 10 disc MP3 changer w/Pioneer speakers
Draw-tite receiver hitch
95 Amigo intake manifold, TB, and intake (better than 91 Trooper)
Delta 260-degree (turbo) cam
Calmini header
Custom 2.25 mandrel-bent exhaust with Dynomax Turbo muffler
Custom high-flow cat installed, test pipe to be sold with truck
MANY spare parts I'll give the buyer & factory shop manual
The truck was converted to R134 about 2 years ago with a new (not refurb) OE compressor, new expansion valve, new drier, and new condenser, and thoroughly cleaning everything else. AC worked great until a few weeks ago when the AC quit cooling even though it holds the charge and the clutch was engaging. I haven't troubleshot it further.
As mentioned the body is straight, there is no frame rot, and there is really nothing wrong with the truck save for the AC. Up north it would be a fantastic daily driver for someone. The performance mods helped a lot to make it a fun truck.
The truck passes TX emissions and should pass emissions anywhere in the 50 states save for maybe California due to CARB inspection requirements.
I've had the truck for 10 years now, since it had 145k miles on the odometer. It's been lovingly cared for and expertly maintained. This was a daily driver for me until recently and has proved to be a faithful companion. I'd like to find a similar home if at all possible.
Pictures to follow. Asking $1k OBO. I stress the OBO part as it will really break my heart to have to junk it. I will begin parting it out shortly to anyone that's interested and then probably haul the rest off for scrap soon.
