Here's a topic I'll bet no one has brought up before. What do you'all do with perfectly good used engine parts that you have leftover. For instance; I have a pack of moly rings 60 over but there is only enough for three pistons. Brand new. Hate to throw them away, ya know. Anyone want them? You can have them. I have a perfectly good used Aisin oil pump. Looks like a new one, virtually no wear on it. Came from a low miles engine. I can't count how many unused gaskets from gasket kits I have.. a box full.
I'm not a collecta-holic by any means, but find it hard to clutter landfills up with stuff that ain't bad. Know what I mean?
What do you guys (gals) do? Throw it away regardless of condition? because you wouldn't want to use it on a rebuild. Maybe that's what I should do.

Ebay or Craigslist. If you're inclined to make good use of it. I bet you might be surprised how quickly that stuff would go. Newbies like me dream of having a stockpile of good used parts (other than all the left over screws every time I work on the interior and put it back together )

If there is a remote possibility that I might use the leftovers, they go into a black plastic tub marked "18R"

If I could adapt them, they go into a tub that is unmarked....anything else gets dumped in a corner till I have to clean the garage out.
I can't bear to chuck out stuff that comes off a Toyota.

Excuses are for losers.

here at the monster back-yard garage,.. we don't throw nothing away. you never know when you need to engineer something out of used parts. I took an old sump pump skimmer and made a neat air breather for my 87/84 (still haven't figured that puzzle out yet) I'll take a picture and post it.

took an old 75cc motocycle a lawn mower, a go kart, and made a heck of a trike.

oh seen a pair of ear-rings on a chic once at a race track made from,............piston rings,..... yeeeehawww get r done

If you want to score some brownie points with people here at 4x4wire, give them away to a board member. I've received several parts free of charge from some of our great members here. And I've got some parts that are collecting dust here in the garage that I'm getting ready to give away.

>>>*This is a good one and I know exactly what you mean. I was up at our engine shop last week and ran some inventories of leftover items.

There are things like gasket sets for Dodges, old Fords, import engines like twin cam Fiats, those sets were opened to get the oil seals or some gasket, job had to go the same day so the crew grabs one off the shelf. Those go into the "someday" stack along with opened ring sets, piston sets, camshafts, bearings, piles and piles and piles of it.

I came up with a figure of around $80,000.....!!!!

Really!! A collection from over 45 years, and this was before I got into the head, cam and crankshaft cores since we have somewhere around 30-40 TONS of those. There is even a pair of new ProTopline heads back there for a 350, and half a dozen new Toyota heads in various stages of not yet done.

Anyone want a 352 Ford empty block? How about a 351W unassembled short block, everything new? Volvo parts? There is a couple of things back there that even I don't know what they are or where they came from.

The jobs get started on, the phone rings, they get set aside. Some folks drop stuff off and we never see them again.....I did load up about 20 sets of 1955-58 Chevy V-8 heads for scrap to clear some space a couple of years ago, but the space got filled right back up!

It seems that every time we do throw something away the phone rings and someone wants it.

I suggested to my son that he post a few of the items on ebay since he does have an account.

His answer? He groaned and mentioned he is working evenings and weekends already.....*LOL**....*EB

*Beats the he** outa me!....*LOL**...
