try the ignition switch that is bolted on the steering column just inside the dash. When you turn the key it moves a rod that goes down the left side of the steering column . The rod moves the internals of the switch. There are 2 types, one for a tilt and one for a non tilt steering. These switches sometimes die and then when you turn the key nothing happens. You should be able to get one for under $30 new or pretty much free from a junkyard out of many GM cars.
