I remember there being a huge post about the Satt radio companys ,and who was going to win out over the other. It was hotly debated, with folks on either side.

Who was right?

Not sure. At one time on (((XM))), they had commercials saying they were merging. You could use your existing receiver and your price would not change. I havent heard anymore about it.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

They are still in the process of merging. XM is going to be dissolved into the Sirius Sat company (although XM has had the higher stock consistently, go figure). I am a daily listener to the Opie and Anthony Show, and they have discussion fairly often on how the merger is going and how alot of people who don't like them will be taking over the new Sirius XM company. They also have 73 days until their current contract runs out, and neither company has contacted them about renewing it for the last remaining year of their contract. I don't know if the merger is a good thing or not. Both companys claim they will be providing their services for no addition fee, but they revealed that they will be downsizing several channels into XM Sirius cross platform channels. Probably ditching XM programming for Sirius (only speculation on my point). After the base programming, almost everything else is an optional extra.

All I know is if they don't pick up O&A's contract for "Hoo Hoo" Howard Stern, I will be canceling all 3 of my XM units. I have my iPhone which can now stream the CBS 92.3 K-Rock side of the show on the Edge network.

I love Sat radio. I'm on XM and like it a lot. However, there are some channels (English radio ) on sirius that I would like so I'll be happy when they merge

You can't just look at the stock price. You also have to consider the total number of shares. SIRI is in the $2 range but has 1.5 billion outstanding shares and a market cap of about $3.1 billion. XM may trade for $8.50 but they only have 320 million shares and market cap of ~$2.7 billion.

Volquez has been a stud on my fantasy team this year, and Cordero is getting me saves. Keppinger and Hairston Jr also filled in nicely when my other SS got injured. I had Votto for a while, Encarnacion too, but wound up dropping them. Bruce will be really good, in another year or two. They've got an awful lot of money tied up in Griffey, who is almost done, and Harang, who has been pretty much a disaster this year. Baker is also an idiot for letting Patterson swing a bat. On most teams he'd only see action as a pinch runner. Cincy does have some good talent but they're in a pretty strong division. [/threadjack]

From what I hear it has been the longest lasting merger hold offs in history. The government says its OK with them
but there is a group of terrestrial radio people who have spent millions to stop it. I don't know all of the parameters of it. But do know that both companies want merge. These people say if the merger happens Sirius/XM will a large monopoly. So they want to stop it. (HMMM, large monopoly, I think of some large oil companies merging not to long ago!!)

I think the hold up is BS!!!!!!

There are thing on XM I have been waiting to hear, from Orlando,Fl. Real Radio 104.1 is one of them.

Off topic, I spell checked and Orlando,Fl came up as (landfall, landfill and two others) weird!

Update I saw listed on Drudge. The deal is probably going to get approval but they have to free up a lot of channels to minority programming etc. and have to meet some other terms regarding subscriptions, equipment, and the like.
