I used the one on the right in my 3.0 12v rebuild. 1000km so far so good touch wood!

1000km so far so good touch wood! I assume "touch wood" has a similar meaning to "knock on wood". On this side of the pond, "touch wood" has a whole different meaning... On a serious note, I'm glad to hear that your rig is performing well!

the biggest problem is people using impact guns to tighten the crank bolts. I use a torque wrench everytime and even with the original I have on my LWB it's holding fine.

I have the "first improved" 3.5 and 3.0 24 and a first improved 3.0 bolt in my junk bucket. The unthreaded space distance looks the same as the "2nd second improved" bolts in the photo above. The 3.0 24 valve and 3.5 DOHC had the same H.B. They must have had a problem with the 1st improved bolt or maybe they are just making a couple bolts as a "fit all" for all the Chrys ,Hyundia, Kias and Diamantes out there.

I have the first revised bolt and it holds just fine 3 years later. I think they just changed it to the Diamante bolt across the board to streamline purchasing.

Thanks for the pictures. this is very helpful. i never knew what the old bolts looked like. mine is the new style that looks like a regular bolt. i now know what to look at when looking at bolts of ones in the junk yards.
