Getting the Wheeling Fever
The fuel gauge on the Raider I jus picked up is jacked up....When the tank is full it reads full but after maybe two gallons are drained it drops to 0. Float issue? Anyone else had this problem? Is there an access hole to the sending unit or do I have to drop the tank? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Also I have a new set of front rotors I'm willing to trade for any Raider related trinket

Put your truck details in your sig line so we don't have to ask.

2.6 sender is accessible from under the truck, just behind rear axle. About 5 p-head screws. A new gasket would be nice.

3.0 sender is accessible from rear cargo compartment - remove access plate in the steel floor. 3.0 fuel lines will be under pressure, unless you relieve it. Disconnect the fuel pump power wire from the tank sender and run the truck til it stalls. will still have minor pressure, so don't be smokin' when you crack the lines open, unless your are ready to open Raider Randy's Long Pig BBQ mobile unit...

That helps Eddy thanks. No interest in startin' my own mobile BBQ although burnt butyl rubber and grease may be the next big marinade

Gen II units have the most miserable tiny phillips screws that you'll never get a screwdrive into. I had to use the mini vice-grips to break loose. I chased the threads and put in new screws after- with no-sieze, and grease in the screwhead.

Mine stopped working when I did my engine rebuild. I took the odometer out and reset it to zero, somehow the fuel gauge did the same exact thing. So I filled it up along with a 5 gallon tank of gas and rode around until the truck ran out of gas. I noticed the trip odometer and now when I get close to that mark I know its time to refuel a little unorthodox but it works

Thats pretty much what I do, the 'ol trip odometer thing. Maybe I have a touch of OCD but it bugs me so I'm going to fix it soon.

When I changed the tank and sender in my Raider, and my gauge read correctly...Oh my the difference in confidence driving around for work.

Phillips head trick. Get the Dewalt big boy drill with the impact function. Insert phead bit in chuck. Set drill on lowest speed and impact, and seat the bit in place and hold with body weight, and lightly trigger drill. Combo of impact and torque usually does the trick without drama.

Poor man's equivalent. Phead s'driver w/ hammer. You supply the hand torque and hammer provides the impact shock. Watch your fingers...
