If I understand correctly, that it is the 22re intake but w/ the carb on top, that is probbaly your problem. The intakes are different. Honestly I don't really see how you did that, didn't think it would bolt up. Guess so?
If you want the carb instead of injection (why??), you need everything from the top end of the carbed motor except the head (heads/blocks are indetical IIRC).

Just so we have more info as to what you have - what year model is the "new" longblock 22re (block and head) off of?
