I ask 'cause I had a similar problem when I first bought my Sport - the front axle stayed locked but 4WD wasn't actually engaged. Turned out it was a grounding problem. If it's actually IN 4WD and shifting out doesn't do it then it's unlikely repacking the hubs is going to do anything other than saving you from having to do that in the near future.

yup, it is shifted to 2WD but the hubs are locked. Waht do you mean by grounding problem? my problem is with my 1988 it is all mechanical there,if you are talking about electrical that is.
