Darn it!!! 4WD has always work flawlessly but last night I went to back up from a parking and heard a "CLICK, CLICK" and next thing tires are chirping Hmmmmm
Then 4x4lock light went off, so since then I am stuck on 4WD HI.

To tell you the truth the last time I repacked the front hubs was about 4 or 5 years ago when I did the V6 break conversion.

Will pulling all out and repacking the auto hubs fix the issue? or am I encountering other issues there?

Are you actually IN 4WD, or are the hubs/axle disconnect just 'locked'? I ask 'cause I had a similar problem when I first bought my Sport - the front axle stayed locked but 4WD wasn't actually engaged. Turned out it was a grounding problem. If it's actually IN 4WD and shifting out doesn't do it then it's unlikely repacking the hubs is going to do anything other than saving you from having to do that in the near future.

yup, it is shifted to 2WD but the hubs are locked. Waht do you mean by grounding problem? my problem is with my 1988 it is all mechanical there,if you are talking about electrical that is.

You might try backing up while sawing the wheel back and forth and applying the brakes at times. It's worked for me on all but one Raider with auto hubs. Just a thought.

try going onto some grass or gravel or something and going in reverse fast...then slamming on the breaks to lock up the tires...that always worked on my old 88 d-50 when the hubs got stuck. it wouldn't even make a "bang" or "click" it would just free up as normal.

OR spend $100 for manual hubs

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...
