Need a Spot
I have a 1991 4Runner that won't stay running. After I start it and and it idles down to 800 rpm it stalls out after about 30 seconds, and right before it stalls it acts like the battery is dead (gauges die, lights dim out), but when I check the battery after it stalls it reads between 11 and 12 volts. After it dies it will start up right away and do the same thing.
What could be the problem?
PLease help and thanx for any insight!!!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Could be a loose connection somewhere between the alternator, battery and the rest of the truck. But I like to look for the easy/cheap fix first.

definitly check your connections first, but i wouldn't necessarily focus on strictly electrical. in the event that its not an electrical issue, you would still see an "electrical dieback" just before stalling because your "generator" has quit running.

has it always done this? if you keep your foot on the gas will it run? when was your last tuneup? has it sat for a while?

rolled it on a snowbank. now i'm not afraid to scratch it. liberation.
