Getting the Wheeling Fever
The #4 injector on my '86 22re refuses to seal for me The seals are all brand new after I had the injectors sent out for flow balanced/cleaned. I didn't use any type of lubricant (other than gasoline) when installing the injectors. The first three are seal tight (using brake cleaner to squirt on all), but that darn 4th one always has a leak (really affects the idle when the cleaner is inhaled). So.. wondering what you folks would suggest to seal this up. Silicon gasket sealer, perhaps?? Other suggestions.

What all seals did you replace? There should be at least one o-ring and a grommet.

yep, replaced the O-ring seals that are used for sealing into the intake and the grommets used to seal up against the fuel rail.

As a heart attack. Its what we use on all the o-rings at work on aircraft fueling equipment.

Also make sure that there is no excess pressure, or pulling on the injector with the wire connection feeding it. I tried to make the wire harness "pretty" on mine, tucking it out of sight, but gave up, because 1 or 2 injectors leaked every time because the harness would pull the injector off center and outta line. Let the wires "relax" in their place, and you'll be good.

Hooray!! after replacing the intake manifold gasket (the guy who rebuilt my engine F'd up during the rebuild)and putting it all together, she purrs like a kitten. Perfect idle (had a serious lope to it with the gasket leak). Now, off for emissions testing next week. Anyone have their bored out engine not pass testing due to the increase in displacement?

I did mine with .030 over. Rebuilt myself, AND I was dreading emissions testing, but she went through like a dream!
