Sounds like a real project...don't it? I think I would start a project with a little better foundation. Seems to me that ride will have to have lots of possible repair before even starting on a upgrade project.. Even if you can get all the parts and get it back together it won't be worth much over 1500 bucks..
I think I would look for a project that hasn't spent 27 years in the rust country. But maybe that is just me.
