The '94 master cylinder I installed in my '84 has a wiring connector as pictured below. Any ideas on the range of model years that used this type of connector and if there is a possibility of getting a connector like that from Toyota or aftermarket sources? A '92 4runner I looked at had wires in the cap just like my '84. So I'm thinking this is a later configuration. -- Matt

Roll Me Over
The new MC I bought from Marlin has the same set-up and I am also looking for a plug. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place, Marlins web page says that the MC is for a FJ80. That may help in locateing a plug.

looks like the 99/00 4runner/Tacoma plug as well . 5VZfe.

you can check the "connector list " here
http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/2000/Wiring%20Diagrams/Connector%20List.pdf

The dealer I use to work for , at my parts counter , we had a OE connector book , so we were able to order OE connectors .. I would think all dealers should be able to .

Corey, I don't see it in the list/diagrams you provided, but I may have missed it. Are those pages from an FSM for a particular model year?

Below is a better picture (straight on view). The connector pictured is from a '94 brake master cylinder reservoir (fluid level sensor).

I think that is for a brake fluid low level sensor connection. My FJ80 m/c has that plug as well. I've heard that sensor can act up off road on side hills where the fluid sloshes away from the sensor. Not sure if it is just an idiot light or what that is connected to it.

yep exactly .. It's an idiot light .. but "sloshing" in the cylinder shouldnt be a Problem if your brakes are on par and top cover is sealed as NEW .

Matt .. I'll see if i can come up with the exact # for you ..

Roger, it sounds like you haven't gotten yours hooked up yet either.

Thanks to Corey for trying to find the connector.

One thing I noticed is that at least my idiot light stays off with the wires not connected. This is an improvement from the old arrangement where the light was on all the time, due undoubtedly to a faulty contacts in the old master cylinder cap.

Philly, when you say it didn't work, do you mean that the light was on even though the master was full or that it didn't come on when it was empty? Did you test the plug/wire for continuity? I'd give shipping and a few dollars for that plug and pigtail anyway. -- Matt
