Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm trying to get my '83 pick up together and I'd love to fab up a dash insert for some aftermarket junk like a speedometer and tach. I'm pretty sure that an aftermarket speed-0 from a 96 tacoma will work with my cable. Pretty sure. Sort of. I'm just guessing really. Can anyone hook me up with the right info or another source that I can get this stuff from?

Starting in 1993 or so, Toyota trucks went to an electronic speedometer. So anything designed for a Tacoma would not work for your 83 that has a cable.

Easiest thing would be to find an SR5 gauge clutster from a first gen pickup and swap it in.

Thank ya'll. The aftermarket '96 speed-o I looked at was square shaft driven and 5/8 threaded so maybe that'll do it. I love the body style of these old trcks, but the instrument clusters are becoming to hard to find, even harder to find in good shape, and impossible to find in good shape and reasonably priced!
