Just curious what kind of gas mileage you guys are getting with the 2.6 and 3.0 swb monteros. I'm also curious about the lwb. Mainly concerned with highway mileage.

87 swb 5spd 2.6, stock, 152k
right at 19mpg after first tank since i've had it. city driving and short trips def kill the mileage on these because it takes alot (of pedal position, revs) to get it going, and there is alot making it want to stop (hmm, box on big tires).
pure highway, you surely can see 22.
'87 swb 5spd 2.6L Montero, >150k miles. Pretty much bone stock as purchased from user ToddStidham1, 'cept some Hella 500's, 700's and Hella ECE headlight conversions.

88 2.6 with 33x12.5s running on 5.29s, a lot of lift, a few hundred pounds extra weight in steel, and at altitudes of typically 6000 feet and up. On the highway I tend to get about 17 MPG. City driving forget it...I never keep track but it gulps it down.

Vehicle - 1989 SWB, 3.0l, V6, automatic transmission, 31x10.50 tires, couple hundred pounds of ARB bullbar, Warn winch and recovery gear.
Terrain - Around here is mostly rural and mountains. No city driving.
Driving style - Usually very easy on the gas. However, when we get paged, it's a completely different story. No warm up times and I'm on the gas a bit more.
I'm getting almost exactly 19mpg.
