I found a few online, Jasperengines.com wants $2800, and bestrebuiltengines.com wants $1900, both have 3 year 100,000 mile warranty. Does anyone have first hand experience with a reman engine, if so can you tell me about it. I am speaking about one for my '89 3.0. Thanks

You'll find anecdotal evidence both ways on Jasper - most of it negative. I haven't heard of the other rebuilder.
The 3.0L engine seems to be difficult for rebuilders to deliver a good product. My own experience leads me to believe they don't understand the need to check head bolt clamping range - particularly if the heads and/or decks are milled, as most of the failures we hear about involve blown head gaskets. If you ever build one of the 3.0L engines and pay attention to details, you'll see why they run into trouble.
If I wanted to use a reman engine, I would remove the head bolts one at a time and install ARP head studs before the engine was installed. Alternatively, I would remove the heads, clean the deck holes and measure the bolt lengths.... making whatever adjustments might be needed - then put it back together with new head gaskets.
There is also a warp/etching issue with the lower intake that can cause coolant leaks - and several other "gotchas" that can raise their ugly heads.
Your signature shows 28K miles on a reman engine - I'm curious why you're asking the question.

Not for a Mitsu, but I bought a reman longblock for my Metro from PowerPro2000 three years ago. 70,000 miles so far and everything is still running perfectly without a hitch (knock on wood).

I got an ATK reman at 205K. Developed a bad oil leak at the oil pan within months, which was fixed under warranty by the installer. Then about a year after, I noticed a small leak (3 or 4 drops after being parked for a couple of days) but I've been too lazy to track down the source. But 20k later it still runs great. When Frank starts marketing that supercharger kit, I'm gonna rebuild one!

I had an ATK VW engine a couple decades ago. 1776cc that I installed type 3 Bosch fuel injection w/ Dodge 2.2 turbo injection, turbo & computer. My friend still beats on it in the New Hampshire woods.
That is my only reman engine.

Frank Frank, I was told about my rebuild when I bought the rig, but there is no proof, and with my exhaust smoke, and now ticking I am just exploring all options.

Do a compression test - that will show a lot.

Frank Frank, Thanks, I'll do that, maybe this weekend. What numbers do I want to see?
