Even if you can't get the parts at a local shop, they are usually available from some reputable import shops in Vancouver and should only take you a few days to get. Check the cross reference parts list on this site. The guys who have put it together have done a great job and it has helped me huge. Also find out who the guy imported from. If he bought it through an import company then they will likely have some commonly required parts such as timing belt kit etc.
