That's a LOT of riding on the RM though, and all of it is fun. (Unlessy you take a Pennsylvania hobbit with you, and they start braking stuff)

You're an . Didn't you kill your clutch that day? I hope you got the plus-sized one!

Ha ha I'm not THAT big...yet. No, clutch is fine. I had installed that hydraulic clutch before that ride, and of course I screwed up the installation somehow. Took it off and threw the old cable back one, and she works fine.

Knock occurs when cylinder pressures are high. It is normal for an engine to ping a little at full throttle
because cylinder pressures are very high at full throttle. Engine knock, however, should not be ignored
since it can result in serious damage to the engine.
ò High octane gasoline burns slower than low octane gasoline. The slow burn prevents engine knock when
cylinder pressures are high.

First one. Cylinder pressures are very high at the torque peak at full throttle, not necessarily at any full throttle rpm.

Second one. Preemo is harder to ignite, not slower to burn.

I had tried filling a gas can with 3 gallons and adding it at the event, but didn't acheive the same results. The computer apparently needs some driving time to realize that it can safely advance the timing beyond it's normal driving parameters. I've been meaning to try disconnecting the battery & resetting the computer at the gas station, but I never seem to have enough time.

yes, on a computer controller car, the ECU needs time to relearn the "map"...

otherwise, you are just wasting money.

now after the event, dont drive hard otherwise, the ECU is still assuming you have 100 octane in there, while you might be on 91 or even lesser grade.

and that's when damage might start occuring...
