I have used both the drop in K&N filter and the cone filter on my Sportage. The drop in works fine, but the cone filter is the way to go.

I took the top off the stock box and left the rest. Then drilled a hole in the rubber end of my cone filter next to where it mounts and installed the temp sensor there. It pushes right in if you use the right sizeed drill bit. I love it.

I have had it throw a couple of CEL codes, but that was because I used to much oil. I have not had problems sucking in "HOT" air, but the way Iron did it would be better because it would be more like a cold air intake.
