I poured some gas in teh carb and had my wife keep her foot on the pedal as I adjusted the idel adjustment all the way open and then she took her foot off. I then backed it back to a point where it began to die and the went forward about .5 of a turn and then stopped. It is not reving over what it did before the problem but it does not run as smooth as before, but it does nto cut off. I took it for a drive, no problems when I stopped or when I let off the gas. But when I got home and turned it off, I can not get it started again. I have to pour gas in the top of the carb.


Which screw are you referring to here, speed or mixture? My first impression was the idle cut solenoid, but sounds like that is working correctly. Refer to the FAQ and make sure both screws are set correctly. How well did you clean the jets out when you rebuilt it? Sounds like a jet could be clogged. Can try unscrewing each idle screw all the way out and spray out the holes with carb cleaner. Or you may need to take the top of the carb off and use a straw on the carb cleaner can to individually spray out each jet.

Oh, before you do all that, check for vacum leaks, especially around the base of the carb. Spray carb cleaner around the carb while engine is running and if it surges you have a leak. A leak at the base will make the engine not idle at all.
