Need a Spot
I have recently bought an 89 Montero for my son. He just got his licence recently and wanted "my" jeep for his first car. I found this montero, and thought it would make a good starter 4X4 for him. I have only built up jeeps in the past so this mitsu is a learning experiance for me as well.
I have found that parts for this rig are not as easy to come by as the jeeps, so any help would be appreciated.
What I need is a fuel tank (ours is rotted). Does any one know of an aftermarket supplier for this Mitsu fuel tank or possibly another model that the tank would fit? Not having any luck with the junkyards.
It's an 89 2dr SWB with a 3.0 V6.

Where are you located? I have an 89 parts truck and the tank is good. You can have it for free. No I will not pull it or ship it. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

The SWB V6 fuel tank is unique to 89/90 models, 20-gallon capacity. The 4-cyl tanks are 16-gallon, the LWB tanks are 24-gallon.

Welcome. It's nice to have a Jeep owner add a Mitsu to his lot and post up here. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Have you tried Car-Part.com?

As was mentioned, there are three variations for 89 in the form of SWB I4, SWB V6, and LWB V6. Add your specs to your signature line via My Home so we know when you post. General location in your profile helps too if anyone is in your area.

Lastly, follow the link in my sig if you need the FSM.

According to the FSM 24.3 gal for LWB, 19.8 for the shorty 3.0L, and 15.9 for the 4cyl.

I think mine's about 22 gallons and shrinking. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

My 2.6 has about an 11-gallon tank. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

I have a pristine tank from a junker 2.6 sitting on a shelf in my garage. Just need to get around to swapping it out, but I want to get armor all ready for it before doing so.
