Boy you guys nailed that one.

I have to say it's sort of fun, like driving a 87 Wrangler 2.4L automatic on 35" mudders. Good in small tight trails going 5 mph. Get on pavement and it's struggles like a 49cc scooter carrying a fat chick up a steep hill on a hot day.

I'd say 45 mph is pushing the max speed. Suspension bottoms out really easy and the welds on the frame are terrible.

Same at the XT225, all steel, small drum brakes, cheap gauges and switches. Pretty darn low tech for an 2006 model. Dissappointing for a new bike to say the least.

Looks like I'm going with the DRZ400SM with two sets of tires and rims(street/offroad). Costs twice as much but the suspension is awsome, brakes stop on a dime, pulls wheelies in 3rd and weighs about the same as the TW.

As for the XR, it's going out to my dads place as a weekend toy. He's great with motors, I'm sure he can get the carb squared away so it's not such a b*tch to start.

Thanks for the advice. Hope to pick up the SM tommorow.
