I think any car that has four wheels, is not rusted out and drives straight down the road is worth $1000. If you live in an area where emissions certification is required then a car with four wheels, not rusted out, drives straight down the road and passes emissions is worth $1500.

However, like folks have said, there are always bargains out there when someone is fed up with a vehicle, wants it gone and doesn't know how to look up value on the internet. I got an '83 Montero SWB for $25 a couple of years ago. (first year of production with Euro bumpers and a steel grill)
