FIRST BETTER CHECK THE VEH THIS TRANS CAME FROM , THERE WERE NO 5PSD TRANS WITH A TRANS FER CASE BEFORE 86 AND THEN ONLY 2 YEARS FOR THIS TRANS 86-87 WERE 5 SPD , ANYTHING PRIOR TO 86 WOULD BE A 4 SPD, BUT TOO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION ON THIS PARTICULAR TRANS WEATHER IT IS A 4 SPD OR A 5SPD , YOU CAN UNBOLT THE FRONT OUTPUT SECTION FROM THE SIDE OF THE TRANS FER CASE AND MAKE A PLATE TO CVR IT AND JUST USE IT AS A 4 0R A 5 SPD HOWEVER YOU WILL LOOSE THE ABILITY TO USE THE LOW RANGE IN THE T/C , AND REMOVING THE ENTIRE T/C FROM THE TRANS , YOU WOULD NEED A LOT OF PART TO CONVERT IT TO A 2WD ONLY AS STEVE IN THE NEXT POST MENTIONED THESE T/C,S ARE INTEGRAL TO THE TRANS,THEY DONT JUST UNBOLT AND BE REMOVED VERY EASY, YOU WOULD BE MUCH AHEAD JUST TO GET A 2WD FOR YOUR APPLICATION ,TOYOTA TRANNYS ARE MUCH MORE PLENTIFUL THAN TRYIGN TO ADAPT THE ISUZU TRANS ESP THAT ONE WHICH IS AN MSG TRANS AND IS NOT A HEAVY DUTY TRANS, THE LATER MODEL MUA TRANS WHICH ARE ALLSO PLENTIFUL CAN HANDLE ABOUT ANYTHING THE TOYOTA COULD THROW AT IT , JERRY
