Hey all, I know I should have done some more searching before I asked, but I am at work and I canÆt really search at the moment, but I need to find some replacement rocker or kick panels (I am not sure of the correct term, but the panel under the door that rolls down under the body) for my æ99 Cherokee Sport 2 Door. I thumbed through one Jeep catalogue last night, I canÆt remember which one right off hand, but it only had panels for up to æ98. IÆll do some more poking around tonight, but I thought if anyone knew of any it might save me a little time.

Here is what happened, the rear lift gate seal leaked when I bought the jeep, I thought it had only done a little rust damage inside on the floor, but now both rockers are rusting. I thought initially this to be just surface rust (living in the North East with Salt and Sand on the road sucks), but yesterday I put my thumb through the drivers side rocker, which still ôlookedö to be solid, at least until I poked it. Looking at it, I believe the water coming in from the lift gate seal would have potentially made its way to the inside of the rockers, but I still need to cut it all apart and see whatÆs up. Over all the Jeep is in great condition, so I would like to just replace the rotten metal and move forward. I would just prefer to get a patch panel rather than just bending up what I need because I donÆt have a lot of sheet metal working tool. I have the basics, hammers, dollies, a vice, cutters, grinder, welder, etc.

Thanks,

Sean

Do what I did. cut out the stock rockers, and weld in 2X6 steel tubing. Since its a stock daily driver, you could use pretty thin metal. like 1/8" or something, and still be fine.

I was actually thinking about something similar but with round tubing, if I couldn't find patch panels. I donÆt need it to look perfect since I plan on coating it with some of that spray on undercoat once itÆs completed as well.

Thanks for the input.

I did do some searching the other night, and so far I am coming up dry for patch panels, which I am guess is why I havenÆt seen many replies.

Thanks,

Sean
