So my old Weber 38 was giving me fits so I thought I would improve my mpg by switching to a 32/26. The bottom line is the mpg is still 17. It seems smoother at low throttle and there is only one idle jet so what gives? I was expecting 2-3 mpg on the switch.

I also ditched my old spliced together MSD ignition & distributor for a new Davis Unified Ignition. It solved my ignition problems and hook up is a simple one wire for the dist and one for the tach. By the way one of my first posts several yrs ago was trying to get my factory tach to work with the MSD setup installed by the PO. I finally gave up and assumed the tach was fried, but the DUI plugged in and the tach works great!

Cool. That's why we are telling people not to let their stock ignition parts get too far away when they go putting stuff like the MSD's on these things.

Let's see if this DUI setup behaves for ya. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

just curious about the DUI and pulled this up.

I laughed a little when I read your line about not letting the stock ignition parts get too far away smile I found myself in this exact predicament, having, ahem, misplaced my stock igniter screws. a friendly from the board hooked me up though, and my MSD Blaster SS is just sitting on my wheel well all by its lonesome. looks kinda pretty, but was just a waste of money. bought it back in my younger days when I bought into pretty much any marketing hype and believed in bolt on power boosts. bah smile

curious to know how you like the DUI.
I only get about 17mpg, too.

so how's the driveability?
do you notice any difference in throttle response or any seat of the pants diff in general?

Actually that was kewlynx line about the stock parts, but when I removed my MSD & stock parts I kept everything wired together and boxed it up "just in case". Overall, I like the simplicity of the setup. The DUI has a more agressive advance curve and I believe it will shine when I rebuild/upgrade my longblock. The one flaw was the fact that the DUI has a long shaft to clear the power steering and the shaft is two pieced. I experienced some oil seeping out where the shaft pieces meet, which I solved with JB weld. I could have returned it and the customer service at DUI was great, but it was too much hassle to remove it, since the 4Runner is my DD. Considering the cost is less than the replacing the stock components with new, I would do it again. My mileage is up to 18 for the summer.
