It's making a few more noises these days, doesn't go up hills quite as zippily as it once did, and had a few dents, but I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon. I can still get > 20MPG on the highway and the AC blows cold, too.

My 96 4x4 won't hit 100 until next year; best is 19 mpg with the 4WD's weight. Hope they bury me in it some day . . .

I just rolled 100k on mine and if I cruise at 65mph I get 21-22mpg or better.

Jmoser I'll second the the T100 coffin. I don't ever plan on selling it unless Toyota produces a similar sized diesel truck(4dr cab would be nice).

What do you have to get such good mpg? Cause in town best I can get is 15mpg.

I see flannel has the 5 sp stick - I have auto and factory 31" rubber, even at 55-60 I am hard pressed to get 20 with a tailwind. Good thing is empty or fully loaded I get about the same, several hundred lbs of cargo does not seem to make a real difference. I also have xtra weight from camper shell and massive TJM bull bars.

Toyota needs to get on the stick with a mid-sized diesel powered solution or these guys are gonna eat their lunch...
Mahindra

I read somewhere that the diesel version will ship in 2009 (? pickuptruck.com) and a Hybrid-diesel offering in 2010. Better than 30mpg with 2600lb payload for the hybrid. Although the importer is also the company that tried to bring us the crosslander ! Crosslander

I want a 2.2 - 2.5 turbo-diesel with Honda's Urea creating catalyst getting 25mpg city and 30mpg hwy. Now is that too much to ask. Brew

That sounds reasonable. In town you are stopping and idling sometimes.

You will probably be in the 20s if you burn a whole tank of gas without stopping.

I've got over 250k now. Averages 16-17 mpg on 35's (I don't drive slow).

Seriously considering selling it and buying a new Tacoma though. My dad's crew cab is nice. Lots of power and interior storage, good gas mileage, but its more a bit more like a car than a truck...

I'm getting 18 now that I had to cut off the belt to my compressor. Sure do miss A/C.
Was getting 15.5 mpg
