problem with AC for 1997 Trooper

Getting the Wheeling Fever

My AC will blow cold for awhile then the compressor will stop working. If I shut it off for awhile it will start working again. I don't see any frozen plumbing under the hood. Is this the AC thermostat and if so, where is it located? I have tried using the MyIsuzuParts website to find a breakout of the location and can't find squat.
