Just got my injectors back and installed so thought I'd do a quick review for anyone who may considering having their injectors cleaned.
Mine had 200k on them so I figured it was about time, and after reading
4crawler's review I decided it was worth a try. I sent my injectors off to
RC Engineering (two day ups), got them back exactly a week later (I chose three day select shipping, and I'm in northern Idaho) shiny and clean. The report said that three of them were leaking and had poor flow rates, now their great.
Initial Impressions First test drive indicates smoother throttle response and MUCH smoother idle. Also, before when I would downshift to engine brake down hills there would often be a slight muffled backfire (that buzzy burble sound) which I can happily report is gone.
Recomendations One thing that I did was go to the dealer and order new insulators for the injectors. RC sends the injectors back with new orings and grommets, but my old insulators were smashed and hard. I'd recommend replacing any rubber parts or gaskets while in there. Also, I bought a 22mm box end wrench to put the fuel rail damper back on, definitely worth it. I used channellocks to get it off, not fun.
Conclusion In the end it cost me $114 for all four injectors, plus return shipping (plus I had to pay for shipping there). Without a doubt some of the best money I've spent, and in retrospect should have done years ago. As soon as I get a chance to take a long drive with it I'll report on any change in gas mileage.
