Body Damage is Cool
Well, my Raider finally runs cool, for really the first time since I got it! Earlier this year it began to run warm, then hot. I flushed the cooling system and replaced the thermostat, the water pump and the fan clutch, but no luck. I have now replaced the radiator and all is fine. The old one was rodded about 125K ago, and the shop was fearful to try it again - if anyone wants it you can have it free, just pay shipping. The first radiator I got was from Advance Auto, and when it arrived it was WRONG. The lower radiator hose pointed TOWARD THE FAN, and there was absolutely no way to hook it up ($217 dollars, returned for refund). The second was from O'reilly auto ($272 but they price matched Advance). It was fine, well made, all metal. Installed with no problems and now the Raider RUNS COOL!!!!!!! Thanks to all that gave advice on this matter, I think it's fixed!!! Lee

have you checked your heater hoses ? They are programmed to burst after a new radiator is installed

That sounds crazy but I know a lot of you have seen it happen! I have always replaced all the hoses after something like that ever since I changed out a radiator in my SIL 75 Mustang. That thing blew every hose after I put a radiator in it. That was my hard earned lesson.

Well, I changed the heater hoses last fall when one of them began to leak, but I'll take another look at them!
