Gen3 has different technology up front. It has a freewheel clutch fork that engages or disengages the pass side axle shaft at the differential. As I understand it, with the pass side disconnected, the open diff will spin rather than turn the driver's side CV axle. So in 2WD the front diff is always turning, but the CV axles aren't. Locking hubs are unnecessary under that scenario.

I don't think enough people have been wheeling Gen3's to post about that front end's weak points. Love to hear some Gen3 wheelers chime in!
