Yes, the airbag deployed.
Thanks to all for the msgs of concern. My main injury seems to be the left little finger..very sore when I make a fist. Otherwise, the T took good care of me.
It was a hard hit. I heard two bangs and only noticed the air bag when everything came to a halt. The engine was still running, but I could hear the fan ticking... so I shut it down.
I presume the two bangs were the initial hit in the rear followed by the front hit/air bag. Man, those things stink!
At 10 years/125k miles, I figured I had another easy 20 years and 250k miles to go. Saw a T100 ('97 2wd) the other day. It had 388+k on it and still running strong.
I don't see how this cannot be totaled. IAC, I'm checking to see what it will take to repair... just in case.
I'm also looking around for another vehicle... but really have no idea what I'd want to replace the T100 with. Maybe a Ridgeline RTS/RTL or a Taco 4x4 crew cab or a (gasp) van. Must have 4 doors this time... and better rear seat protection. I'm really glad my kids weren't with me at the time because someone's head would have likely been through the back glass with no protection there. (I've complained about that before on this forum). That's probably my biggest complaint about the T100.
I'm tempted to get a small economical car and buy a beater truck for my modest hauling needs... but don't care to add tags and insurance for a 3rd vehicle.
I hate to be in a position of HAVING to buy rather than WANTING to buy... in which case I'd already know what I want and what I'm shopping for.
But... life happens.
