BigMike over at marlincrawler's site did the swap some time ago into his 82(?) Yota.

thanks. i would like to find one sooner rather then later, but its casual right now. I may just rebuild the old 22r and call it good. I just wondered if anyone had anything positive or negative about the whole thing.

Personally, if I were to make the effort, I'd do a 2.7 swap over a 3.0 swap. Same HP, relatively easier to work on than its 3.0 or 3.4 counterpart.

I believe 4 Wheel and Off Road magazine did that swap recently on their truck "Clampy".

Body Damage is Cool
The Marlin Crawler Forumis loaded with discussion about this swap. And Big Mike and his crew have done at least a half a dozen 3RZ swaps by now. Marlin even sells a custom bellhousing to allow the use of an R series transmission behind the 3RZ motor (2.7) -- Matt

The real truth is that had Marlins shop do it.
