Trader Joes has great peppers... Buy some for a salad and save the seeds. Dry them for a couple of days and then plant them.
They grow very well in Cali.
Lots of veggies you buy for food can be used for seed as well.
Doug fir won't last super long against. I like to use a copper wood preservative on my planters and I use pressure treated. One or the other is good, both is better. Modern pressure treated is copper based so its not harmfull like the older arsenic based stuff.
I also line my beds with a plastic tarp to keep the dirt away from the wood.
I want my beds to last 20 or so years.
Old coffee grounds are great in your compost heap.

For you cold weather guys, you can get plenty of vitamin C from rose hips, the green fruit things that grow where the flower was. Easier than trying to grow even tomatoes in colder climates.
I would NOT ingest colloidal silver. Used as a topical antibiotic on a bandage in very small concentrations, it's ok.

They sell it for ingestion. Argyria is a symptom of doing it all wrong. That famous blue dude and that senator was using a salt solution with tap water in their concoctions. The other cases (which are extremely rare) were from taking some other silver chloride solution. Has to be pure distilled water (and recommended to test the water for solids before using it). The funny thing with the smurf people - they still swear by the stuff - never get sick. Some seem to think the high concentration didn't help either - these folk were making theirs at over 100PPM while studies (including EPA) show 10PPM to be safe and effective...which is another reason to make it yourself...if you trust no one Good info - good site too.

If you took crap that made you freaking blue, then you'd say anything to justify it.
